Tom Allwinton (b.2000) is an Australian painter based in London. He received his BA in Fine Art: Painting from the University of Brighton (2022) and MA in Painting from UAL: Camberwell (2023). He regularly exhibits his work in venues across London and was shortlisted for ArtEvol (2025).
Tom’s work engages with themes of entrapment, scared geometry, identity, and public iconography. His earlier work utilised vibrant colours and raw mark making mixed with language to create electric and powerful images. Since moving to London, Tom gained a subtler, more methodical approach to painting, adopting the motif of the grid to represent interconnectedness and the hidden layers and systems that bring about the organisation of forms. Tom’s constantly moving and evolving practice orbits around the central idea of trying to understand the human condition, an enigmatic yet essential question that he seeks to unveil through his paintings.
